Department of Veterans Affairs' Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
environment. The team is composed of experienced Oracle database
administrators, developers, and business intelligence
professionals. Working closely with Oracle Commercial Professional
Services, the team analyzes the current environment, provides
access to logs and metrics, and implements performance tuning
recommendations. The team follows agile principles, provides
frequent updates, and aims to improve the EDW environment in
preparation for cloud migration.Professional Level InformationThe
Senior Database Architect position aligns as an Engineer 3 at 9th
Way Insignia. An Engineer 3 typically plans and directs research or
development work on complex projects, provides technical
leadership, and collaborates with teams in designing and
implementing advanced systems. This individual has strong technical
skills, deep subject matter expertise, and leads resolution of
complex challenges.Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior Oracle technical expert for the EDW
optimization and cloud migration readiness task.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior resources, including
Database Administrators, Developers, and Senior Developers.
- Coordinate directly with Oracle Commercial Professional
Services to ensure access to system data, logs, ETL pipelines, and
performance metrics.
- Review, validate, and quality-assure deliverables in
partnership with the Project Manager.
- Oversee schema analysis, partitioning strategies, indexing, and
tuning recommendations.
- Lead the integration of Oracle GoldenGate configurations and
data replication enhancements.
- Ensure deliverables align with 9th Way Insignia standards and
meet customer expectations.
- Provide technical expertise in performance diagnostics, storage
optimization, and query tuning.
- Support the creation of migration readiness assessments,
optimization plans, and implementation roadmaps.
- Other duties as assigned.Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering,
or other engineering or technical discipline is required.
- An additional 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted
in lieu of the degree.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field.
- Extensive experience in Oracle database architecture, including
schema design, indexing, materialized views, and performance
tuning.
- Strong understanding of ETL workflows and business intelligence
tools.
- Experience working with Oracle GoldenGate and data replication
in hybrid environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in technical projects and mentoring of
junior engineering staff.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Tier 2/Moderate
clearance. Existing clearances are preferred.
- Must be available to work onsite 8 hours a day, Monday through
Friday at 1800 G Street NW, Washington, DC.
- Oracle certifications related to database administration or
architecture.LocationThis position is onsite at 1800 G Street NW,

per day.Salary Range$120,518 - $150,000 USD9thWay Insignia's range
