Registered Nurse (RN) | Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Location: Upper Marlboro, MD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,471 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/6/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of experience preferred; will accept first-time travelers with 2 years of open heart experience License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Experience in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Ability to float as required Description: Contract length is 13 weeks. The shift is 3x12 nights from 19:30 to 08:00. Expected average daily census is 6 patients. The unit has 8 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2. Patient age range is adults to geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac surgery such as CABG and valve procedures, CAD including STEMI and NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, and cardiogenic shock. The unit also manages vascular cases, including peripheral bypasses and EVAR, as well as thoracic surgeries. Special procedures performed in the unit include immediate post-operative care for cardiac patients and ventilator management with respiratory therapy. The nurse may scrub in and assist in procedures. Skills required include monitoring and interpreting dysrhythmias, managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and administering emergency medications. Experience with devices such as ECMO, Impella, and IABP is essential. Additional skills include ventilator management, phlebotomy, and infection prevention practices. The nurse will be required to work weekends and holidays as scheduled. Floating to other units may be necessary based on operational needs. Candidates must be comfortable floating within their scope of experience. References are required from previous employers. The candidate's permanent residence must be located 50 miles or more from the job location. Most locations and units will allow for one major holiday off during the winter season, but specifics can vary by job posting.
