Job Description:

MedStar Health, a leading non-profit healthcare organization in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Vehicle Operator to join our Emergency Services department. This vital position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of emergency vehicles, ensuring rapid and secure transportation of patients and medical teams during emergencies. The role requires excellent driving skills, a deep commitment to patient care, and the ability to perform under pressure. Operate emergency vehicles in a safe, efficient manner following all traffic laws. Maintain communication with dispatch and healthcare teams to coordinate prompt response. Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance to ensure operational safety. Assist in the safe transfer of patients to and from the vehicle. Document transport details and maintain accurate logs of vehicle usage. Participate in ongoing training and simulations to improve emergency response capabilities. Proficient in defensive driving techniques Strong knowledge of local road systems and traffic laws Ability to make quick decisions under pressure Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Basic mechanical skills to manage minor vehicle maintenance Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid state driver’s license Clean driving record CPR and First Aid certification Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certification
