Registered Nurse (RN) | Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Location: Towson, MD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,405 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Preferred License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI Required; OCN, and TNCC Preferred Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience or first-time travelers with CVICU experience accepted. - Every third weekend required. - Holidays required as scheduled. - Required to float to other units as needed. - On-call hours required on a rotating schedule. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The role involves caring for adult and geriatric postoperative cardiac surgery patients. Common patient diagnoses include CABG, MVR, AVR, cardiac surgery readmissions, structural heart procedures, and cardiogenic shock. Nurses will be involved in managing patients immediately post-op, with responsibilities including the administration of inotropic medications, hemodynamic monitoring, and active management of cardiac output. Nurses should be experienced in handling extreme coagulopathy, open chest scenarios, and advanced cardiac support technologies such as ECMO and Impella. Effective management of ventilated patients, titration of cardiac drips, and comprehensive patient assessments are also essential aspects of this role. A collaborative approach with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services and pharmacy is expected. Candidates must possess the skills required to interpret dysrhythmias, manage multisystem organ dysfunction, perform EKGs, and administer blood products among other critical care interventions. Flexibility to accommodate the demand for nursing care in a high-acuity environment is crucial. This position offers the opportunity to work with a small patient census, typically 3-5 patients per shift, ensuring focused and individualized care.
