Job Description Specialty Pharmacist – Pediatric Specialty
Pharmacy Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Contract Length: 13
Weeks (3 months initially – potential extension or conversion to
FTE) Shift: Day | Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM –
5:00 PM EST Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week Position Overview We
are seeking a highly motivated Specialty Pharmacist to serve as the
clinical liaison between specialty pharmacy services, specialty
clinics, and patients. This role supports pediatric specialty drug
therapy and provides comprehensive clinical oversight, patient
education, medication management, and interdisciplinary
collaboration to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes. The
pharmacist will maintain competency in specialty medication
management, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care while
supporting leadership in the delivery of high-quality specialty
pharmacy services. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate and timely
specialty pharmacy services for patients requiring specialty
medications. Deliver clinical monitoring and pharmacotherapy in
accordance with accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and
internal policies. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, clinic
staff, and caregivers to optimize medication therapy and patient
outcomes. Manage patient enrollment and onboarding for specialty
pharmacy services. Initiate and manage prior authorization
processes for specialty prescriptions. Maintain complete and
compliant patient documentation. Provide drug information and
education to patients, families, clinic teams, and pharmacy staff.
Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure accurate
preparation and distribution of medications. Participate in
departmental quality improvement initiatives and process
optimization. Support training and onboarding of new specialty
pharmacy staff. Serve as a drug information resource within
specialty clinics, including patient follow-ups and clinical
consultations. Assist in the expansion of ambulatory and specialty
pharmacy services. Precept pharmacy students, interns, and
residents as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by
pharmacy leadership. Patient Population Neonates, Pediatrics,
Adolescents Schedule Monday – Friday 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM
– 5:00 PM EST No weekends Requirements Education: Doctor of
Pharmacy (PharmD) Licensure: Active Pharmacist License (required)
Experience: Retail pharmacy experience required Specialty pharmacy
experience preferred (1–2 years) Pediatric experience preferred
Strong interpersonal, communication, and clinical documentation
skills Knowledge of pharmacy information systems and automated
dispensing technology preferred Ability to provide care across
