• Location: Holy Cross Health has two hospitals and four healthcare centers all a short driving distance from Washington DC and Baltimore, MDDescription:The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.Responsibilities:This position is responsible and accountable for:
  • Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources. (i.e., human resources, patient care environment, supplies, etc.)
  • Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff
  • Determining staff assignment and scheduling
  • Assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in the development of patient care standards and delivery of care processes.
  • Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.
  • Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.
  • Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the quality improvement and safety plan.
  • Maintaining a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence.
  • Functioning as a professional role model and resource person.What You Will Need:
    • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board as a Registered Nurse
    • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
    • Bachelor's in Nursing required; Master's degree in nursing preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years of specialty specific experience in an acute care setting.
    • Advanced computer skills to include data entry and retrieval, including Microsoft specialty products.
    • Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
    • Ability to effectively communicate complex and comprehensive information thoroughly and succinctly.Pay Range: $42.20 - 61.00Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
