Assistant Director of Disability Services and Wellness

Requirements
The (OAS) is responsible for ensuring that law students with
disabilities are granted reasonable accommodations in accordance
with the ADA, Section 504, and University policy. The OAS team
works in partnership with Law Center faculty, staff, and students
to promote environments that are accessible, sustainable, and
inclusive by:
- Determining and implementing reasonable accommodations to
remove access barriers for students with disabilities in curricular
and co-curricular environments;
- Implementing approved academic adjustments (e.g. exam
modifications) for pregnant/parenting students and/or students
navigating temporary medical conditions;
- Sharing resources with students with disabilities requesting
MPRE and/or Bar Exam accommodations; and
- Promoting Universal Design for Learning through collaboration
with faculty and staff across the Law Center.
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Associate Director's responsibilities include:
- Engage with students and faculty in the interactive
accommodation process in order to determine reasonable
accommodations.
- Coordinate and execute accommodated exam administration for
Legal Practice, Mini Course, Week One, and Final Exams administered
by the Office of the Registrar and midterm exams administered by
faculty.
- Manage the day-to-day operations and ensure smooth functioning
of the office in the Director's absence.
Work Interactions
The Associate Director will regularly interact with the Assistant Director and Coordinator in order to facilitate implementation of reasonable accommodations. Under supervision of the Director, the Associate Director will regularly consult with the Office of the Registrar to plan for several exam administration periods each semester. The Associate Director will also interact with faculty to implement student requests for accommodated timed assessments and facilitate classroom based accommodations. Finally, the incumbent will interact with various campus partners, including but not limited to, Information Systems Technology (IST), the Office of Residence Life & Student Housing, and Planning & Facilities Management to ensure that students' access needs are met.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree required, preferably in special education,
psychology, educational administration or another related
discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with individuals with
disabilities in an academic environment
- Familiarity with the application of Section 504 and the ADA in
the higher education setting, and ability to recognize and
understand regulatory requirements associated with disability and
accommodation issues
- Ability to interpret to interpret, medical, psychological,
neuropsychological and educational documentation
- Ability to communicate and interact with people of diverse
ages, personality types, backgrounds and experiences
- Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple
responsibilities; ability to successfully adapt to unpredictable
events
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance collaborative and independent work
- Demonstrated organizational skills and superior attention to
detail
- Ability to manage highly confidential information
- Excellent judgment, maturity, professionalism and
resilience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and
Adobe

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
