currently recruiting transitioning or former military professionals
for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer position with an
engineering-driven electronics contract manufacturing organization
specializing in the design and manufacture of highly complex
electronic and RF circuit cards and assemblies.
Position Details
Location: Baltimore, MD
Compensation: $90,000 - $125,000 (based on experience)
Shift: M-F, 8:00 - 4:00 PM (hours may vary)
Travel: Less than 10%

Position Description
As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in
the production team, taking on substantial responsibilities to
support the mission of delivering high-quality products in the
medical, industrial, aerospace, and defense sectors. This role
involves providing technical guidance, facilitating continuous
improvement efforts, and collaborating with a diverse team of
engineers. You will be responsible for reviewing and optimizing
manufacturing processes, creating production documentation, and
acting as a subject matter expert in electronics manufacturing. The
objective is to integrate new products seamlessly and enhance
existing processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and defect
minimization. This role offers opportunities for skill development
and growth beyond its primary scope. Responsibilities will
include:
--- Provide technical guidance to Production operations.
--- Collaborate with engineers on Continuous Improvement efforts
and problem escalations.
--- Review and provide feedback on manufacturability for drawings,
sketches, schematics, manuals, or sample parts.
--- Create production documentation and Process Flow Routings from
customer files and standard practices.
--- Develop efficient production processes and work instructions
for custom-configured products.
--- Drive best practices for manufacturability based on industry
standards and customer requirements.
--- Perform Root Cause Analysis to support Quality team Corrective
Actions.
--- Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews as
needed.
--- Communicate Corrective Action or DFM findings to customers
clearly as a subject matter expert.
--- Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO) into production
documentation.
--- Follow up on assemblies during the New Product Introduction
(NPI) process and engineering changes.
--- Establish methods to improve production processes for cost,
schedule, and quality.
--- Develop and document operational procedures for equipment and
provide training to Production.
Position Requirements
--- Hold a B.S. degree or higher in an engineering field,
particularly Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial
Engineering.
--- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the electronics
manufacturing industry, with Printed Circuit Board Experience.
--- Proficiency in operating and managing electronics manufacturing
and assembly equipment, including solder paste screen printing,
component pick and place, convection reflow ovens, select solder,
and wave solder.
--- Possession of a Lean Certificate or Six Sigma belt is
preferred, with the capability to discuss the project used to
achieve it.
--- Experience with inspection equipment and the ability to analyze
defects using tools like 3D SPI, AOI, X-Ray, and 3D X-Ray.
--- A solid understanding of or certification in the manufacturing
standards relevant to electronics manufacturing (IPC-610,
J-STD-001) applicable to both commercial and military products.
--- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
and instructions from operating manuals.
--- A strong understanding of the procedures necessary for
successful manufacturing of SMT, Through-Hole, and Box Build
products.
--- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and
excellent communication skills.
--- Strong analytical abilities and effective communication
skills.
--- Familiarity with AS9100 documentation systems.
--- Keeping up to date with problem-solving and process improvement
practices.
--- Previous experience with conformal coating and mechanical
assembly is preferred.
--- Physical capability to regularly reach and lift up to 30
pounds, with good vision (glasses or contacts accepted) and the
ability to inspect small fine details.
--- Experience and proficiency in handling small power tools, along
with the capacity to learn the operation of large production
equipment.
--- Willingness to perform the same duties as all production
personnel when required to instruct new operators or expedite
material during time crunches.
--- Awareness that this position may require exposure to
information subject to US export control regulations, such as the
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export
Administration Regulations (EAR), and therefore, all applicants
must be U.S. persons as defined by U.S. regulations.
